The Hope-Taylor Finds: Animal Bone

Despite acidic ground conditions, some bone fragments did survive at Yeavering. For the most part these represent rubbish and food waste.

One or two items, however, were worked; these were polished and decorated either as trial pieces, used by a craftsman to test out their design, or practice their techniques for decoration on items such as bone combs.
